Methods of Use Essential Oils

Aromatherapy Aroma Lamp (oil burner)
An aroma lamp uses a ‘tea light’ candle to heat small bowl that contains water with few drops of essential oils. The procedure of using lamp is simple: fill your bowl with water, add 5-15 drops of essential oil, and light the candle. As water warms aroma diffuses into the air. This evaporation is aromatic and therapeutic. Take care to choose the suitable oils for you.

Electric Diffuser
It uses a small fan to circulate the aroma from the essential oils. The electric option is a good one if you are using those essential oils that are used to encourage sleep, and are ideal for office use.

Candles
When wax begins to melt on a candle, add 2-5 drops of essential oil to the warm wax. This method is not very efficient, it does not always provide the high quality aroma that an aroma lamp or diffuser will provide.

Bath
This method is very popular among them who like to take bathes. It is effective and helpful as you add 10-methods20 drops of aromatherapy essential oil into your bath water and your essential oils affect your body via the nose and the skin. Essential oils can also be used in the Jacuzzi/Hot Tub. For example, Lavender essential works very relaxing and is good for the skin.

Aromatherapy Massage Oil or Body Lotion
When used this way, the oils are absorbed through the skin. If you add several drops of the proper essential oil into your carrier oil, you can create a relaxing massage blend, energizing blend, sensual blend, or muscle therapy blend.

Perfume
In the past essential oils would use as perfumes. Today many perfumes and colognes contain essential oils as their active ingredients. Amazing odor of Jasmine is a good example. Unlike perfumes which often contain chemicals, alcohol, etc., an essential oil such as Jasmine used as a perfume will not only make you smell beautiful, you will also receive the benefits of the essential oil. Most essential oils should be diluted before applying directly to the skin.

Personal Mist
Add about 15-30 drops of essential oil to a 2 oz misting bottle filled with water.  Shake thoroughly and its ready to use. Spray around the house, or for those essential oils with sensual or aphrodisiac properties, you can spray in the bedroom and on your bedding.

Shampoo/Conditioner
You can use essential oils to strengthen your hair follicles and improve your hair. Add about 10-15 drops of essential oil to your shampoo or conditioner (per 4 ounces) bottle. Recommended essential oils for your hair are Rosemary and Tea Tree.

Facial Scrub
If you use a scrub add about 5-15 drops of essential oil to your product (depending on the jar size and the oil you are adding), mix it well and exfoliate.

Facial/Body Cream
You can help your skin by enhancing your favorite facial or body cream/lotion with essential oils. Add 5-8 drops to 1 ounce of cream, mix well and apply as usual. Essential oils do not mix well with creams/lotions that contain mineral oil.

Sport/Muscle Rub
Essential oils can be good for some injuries in sport. Add 20-30 drops of essential oil to 1 ounce of carrier oil such as Hazelnut or Sweet Almond and gently massage into the sore muscles/area.  Peppermint is particularly good for sports/muscle rubs.

Foot Soak
If you like to soak your feet after a hard day, try adding 10-15 drops of essential oil.

Linens
You can apply essential oil on your sheets, pillows, or even a handkerchief and the aroma will slowly diffuse.

Insect Repellent
Many essential oils including citronella, lavender, and peppermint act as a natural repellent against insects. Sprinkle a few drops of essential oil onto tissues or cotton balls and place near your doorways and windows to help repel insects. Be sure to read all safety data on the oils you use as some oils may not be suitable for use around pets. Be careful not to apply the essential oil directly onto fragile surfaces.

Steam Inhalation
In a bowl containing one litre of steaming water add 5 drops of Essential Oil. Cover your head with a towel, lean over the bowl and inhale, keeping your eyes closed. This method is used to cure colds, bronchitis etc.

Easy Inhalation
Place 3-4 drops of essential oil on a tissue. Place the tissue near your nose and inhale. When trying an oil for the first time, use only one drop to ensure that you do not have a sensitivity or reaction to the oil.

Household Freshening
Add a few drops of oil to your laundry wash, drain, vacuum bag filter, or on a tissue for placement in your wardrobe or drawers.
